Speedway Australia management are excited to announce that ex Perth based now Queenslander Bennie Bishop has joined the World Series Sprintcars team as chief track announcer for the upcoming series.

With the recent announcement of past announcer Wade Aunger accepting a job at Sydney Speedway it was a very easy and quick process in finding a suitable replacement for this position going forward.

Bennie not only brings a massive big smile and a personality that will add to the series, but his passion and knowledge within the speedway ranks will bring pleasure to all who attend at track this year.

A talented announcer and entertainer who has filled many roles both within speedway, drag racing, and Radio gigs, Bennie has shown an immensely professional approach to all his roles and this culminated on him taking the National announcing role on the Speedcar Pro Series in its inaugural year in 2013/14.

After receiving great reviews and a lot of very positive feedback the position of WSS announcer is a natural progression for Bennie.

“ Having known Bennie for a number of years, he was always destined for bigger things within the sport. He has held very prominent positions within the Perth Motorplex both within Speedway and Drag Racing for many years and has always done a fantastic job. We are wrapped to be taking Bennie on the WSS tour and he will bring his own exciting style and professionalism that I’m sure people will enjoy all over the country” said WSS co-ordinator Shane Collins

“This is a massive privilege for me for so many reasons and I’m so thankful to Wade for giving his stamp of approval for me to take over the gig. He leaves massive shoes to fill but thankfully we’re great mates and he’s offered me all the support I need so I can’t wait for the series to start!” said Bishop.

Bishop’s passion for the sport goes back before he can remember, growing up in Bundaberg Queensland and going to every event at Carina Speedway his parents and brothers would take him to.

"I started reporting speedway for my local newspaper, the “News Mail” back when I was 14 years old so there’s few things in this world that entertain me like Sprintcars, so much so that I’m actually very content as a spectator as well. I’m just as happy sitting on a camping chair in turn one with a pie, coke and goggles as I am holding a microphone on the infield. I just never get tired of speedway.” the 41 year old Bishop said.

“ Once again we can’t thank Wade Aunger enough for his contribution to WSS over the years, but even speaking with him recently he was over the moon for Bennie’s appointment as we are and its all getting exciting as the series gets closer” said Collins

Speedway Australia is also working hard behind the scenes in regards to other commentary roles within both the WSS TV show and at track team, so stay tuned for more information that will be coming soon on www.worldseriessprintcars.com.au.
