Hirst Rebounds For Ninth Place Finish

Driving the Peter Murphy Tribute car at the Peter Murphy Classic on Saturday night in Tulare, CA, Kyle Hirst rebounded from a mid race flat tire, to score a ninth place finish with the King of the West Series.

“The month of July sure wasn’t nice to this Roth Motorsports team,” Hirst said. “We are all looking forward to tearing this month out of the calendar to see what August has in store for us.”

Climbing aboard his Roth Motorsports entry that adorned the green and white scheme that Peter Murphy piloted in the United States the last few seasons, Hirst timed the Dalton’s No. 1NZ machine in second fastest, putting him in a great spot for the night ahead.

With the track still very fast for heat races, Hirst finished in the third position, putting him in the feature event, and also in the Pole Shuffle, that replaced the dash on this night.

Outlasting the field for the Pole Shuffle, Hirst earned the right to lead to field to green aboard his Peter Murphy Tribute machine for the 30-lap Peter Murphy Classic, and he quickly found himself in a very entertaining battle with young, Carson Macedo.

Thrilling the crowd with numerous slide jobs, Hirst night nearly came to a wild finish as he got into the cushion a little too hard on the 14th lap, and he had all four wheels on the wall, but was able to bring it down, and keep racing, though he lost a few positions.

Battling a right front flat, Hirst finally brought his machine to a stop a lap later, and went to the work area to get some fresh rubber.

Restarting at the tail end of the field, Hirst had his elbows up, as he rode the cushion, and clawed his way back up to a ninth place finish, in minimal laps.

“I can’t thank the entire Roth Motorsports team for giving me a car, and getting the tribute car put together,” Hirst said. “It was a very cool event to be a part of, and I wanted to win this race so bad especially being in the 1NZ machine. I can’t thank Dennis and Teresa for letting us honor Peter Murphy this way, and giving us some great equipment.”

Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
