Bad Luck Bites James McFadden

Australian pilot, James McFadden is in the midst of a very strong USA campaign, but this past weekend with the FAST Series, McFadden hit a minor speed bump as bad luck bit him on both Friday and Saturday night at the Attica Raceway Park and the Freemont Speedway.

“Overall it was a pretty disappointing weekend,” McFadden said. “Friday night we were in the Top-Five and a wreck broke out in front of us on the white flag lap, and I spun to avoid it, and on Saturday we were in the top five, and broke a brake line so I pulled in. We have a really fast car so I am eager to get going again.”

Friday night at the Attica Raceway Park, McFadden timed his All Star Performance/Red Line Oil/Hoosier Tire No. 3G machine in third fastest with 28 cars on hand.

Finishing third in heat race action, McFadden earned the transfer to the feature event, where he gridded the filed in the field in the fifth row for the 30-lap contest.

Working his way through the field, McFadden found himself in the fifth spot when the caution flew on the 13th lap. Continuing to pressure Chris Andrews for the fourth spot, McFadden was relentless in his pursuit as the lead pack found themselves in heavy lapped traffic.

With the white flag waiving, it looked as if McFadden would finish in the fifth spot, but Cap Henry and Chris Andrews would tangle, and McFadden took action to avoid it, and spun his machine to a stop.

Restarting for the Green-White-Checkered finish, McFadden would salvage a ninth place finish.

Saturday night saw McFadden and his JG Racing team check into the Fremont Speedway, and McFadden started his night off by timing in 15th fastest in time trials.

Transferring through his heat race with a third place finish, McFadden gridden the field in the fourth row on this night, and when the race went green, he did what he has done at Fremont during his US stint, and that is move forward, as he attacked the tricky cushion, and quickly found himself in the sixth spot.

With the cushion being tricky, McFadden could gain spots, and at times when he hit it wrong, he would drop a few positions as he yo-yoed between the fourth and seventh spots during the race.

On the 15th lap, McFadden came brought his machine to a stop as he had broke a brake line, thus ending his night a bit early.

“It was a tough weekend, but like I said, we had some speed,” he said. “We will head to Ohsweken this weekend, and the team has had pretty good success up there, so hopefully we can continue that with me in the seat.”

James and the JG Racing team would like to thank All Star Performance, Red Line Oil, Hoosier Tire, Gaerte Racing Engines, XYZ Machining, Shepherd’s Chevrolet, SST, Brodix, Comp Cams, Diamond Pistons, Dyer’s Rods, Kinsler Fuel Injection, Astro Titanium, Fibertec, DMI, Brown and Miller, Cool Chassis, Barnes Oil Pumps, and www.sprintcarworld.com.au for their support.
