James McFadden was in action in the state of Ohio last week taking on the World of Outlaws, and the Australian driver had a very good showing during the Brad Doty Classic, where he charged from his 12th starting spot to record a fifth place finish.

“Lima, OH was probably one of the busiest, most fun races I have been in,” McFadden said. “The boys gave me a great car, and it was nice to get a great finish with the World of Outlaws.”

With 43 cars on hand for the Brady Doty Classic at the Limaland Motorsports Park, McFadden timed the JG Racing No. 3G entry in 14th fastest, putting himself on the front row of his heat race.

Slipping to the third spot in his heat, McFadden successfully transferred into the evening’s 40-lap feature event, but gridded the field from the sixth row.

On the immaculately prepared surface, McFadden had his elbows up against some of the best in the business as he navigated traffic to perfection, on his march to the front.

Jumping into the ninth spot early in the race, McFadden battled frantically with David Gravel and Brad Sweet, as they went three wide at times, and slid eachother back and forth.

Following a lap 20 caution, McFadden was able to clear Gravel and Sweet, as he jumped into the sixth spot, and chased after Daryn Pittman.

Late in the race, McFadden was able to clear both Rico Abreu and Sammy Swindell to work into the fourth spot, but with two to go, amidst a battle in slower traffic, Donny Schatz was able to get by McFadden, and McFadden would finish in the fifth spot.

Heading to the Eldora Speedway on Friday night for the Knight Before The Royal, McFadden timed in 31st fastest in time trials, before finishing eighth in heat race action.

Lining up 12th in the ‘B’, McFadden would get as high as the eighth spot, and he would fail to make the feature event.

Saturday night during the Kings Royal, McFadden again faltered in qualifying time-trials, as he timed in 37th fastest.

A sixth place finish in heat race action resulted in McFadden again taking a trip to the B Main, where he lined up in the seventh position.

Putting in a very good effort, McFadden worked his way into a transfer spot until late contact with another competitor punctured his left rear, and he was relegated to a 17th place finish, ending his night.

“It was a shame what happened on Saturday night in the B, but both nights I timed in poorly, and really put us in a huge hole for a really big race weekend,” McFadden added. “I think as the weekend progressed I got more comfortable at Eldora, but I really wanted to be in that feature event.”
