Steve Kinser Looks for Elusive Win at 34 Raceway

‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ returns to Iowa’s 34 Raceway, Wisconsin’s Beaver Dam Raceway and Cedar Lake Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. — June 25, 2014 — Despite 20 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championships and 577 wins, one thing that has eluded Steve Kinser is a win at 34 Raceway, one of the stops during this weekend’s continued swing through the Upper Midwest.

Kinser came closest to a win at the West Burlington, Iowa, track during the Outlaws’ first trip there in 2008. Then, Kinser and Tony Bruce Jr. waged a fierce battle through the 35-lap A main. Bruce struggled to hold off Kinser as Kinser was able to pull even on several occasions. Ultimately, though, it was Bruce who came out on top, capturing his lone World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car victory.

As Kinser continues his ‘Salute to the King’ tour this weekend and through the end of this season, Friday is his last chance to capture a win at the 3/8-mile track as an Outlaw.

The series’ next two stops the on Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway and Sunday at Cedar Lake Speedway for the FVP Outlaws Showdown at Cedar Lake have been much friendlier to Kinser. He has one win at Beaver Dam and five wins at Cedar Lake.

The Outlaws are coming off a wild weekend that saw Donny Schatz tie Mark Kinser for third on the all-time wins list and Roger Crockett win his first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series race.

Schatz’s emotional victory at River Cities gave him his 153rd career win and sixth of the season. Schatz also extended his points lead this past weekend to 27 over second place Daryn Pittman.

Crockett won a wild race at I-94 Speedway, crossing the checkered flag with a flat right-rear tire he had nursed for more than half a lap. Crockett’s first Outlaws win made him the 16th different winner of the season.

A slim margin continues to separate the top four drivers in the race for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship. Schatz leads Pittman by 27 points while Paul McMahan is in third, 63 points out of the lead and Joey Saldana is fourth, 65 points out of the lead.
