Hirst Notches Another Strong KWS Run
Author : Petersen Media

Hitting the dirt at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night for a local show, and at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for round two of King of the West, Kyle Hirst stayed strong as he settled for eighth on a very narrow track Friday before mixing it up at the front of the field Saturday.

‘Our finish on Saturday really wasn’t an indicator of how our night was,” Hirst, who finished fifth said. .”We were up front most of the night fighting for the lead, but there was a late restart that put us on the inside and we got shuffled back.”

With 35 cars on hand at the tight, exciting, quarter mile track, Hirst timed his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle machine in second fastest, putting him in the second heat race.

A second place finish in his heat, put Hirst in the Dash, and for the second week in-a-row, he won and started the feature from the pole.

Sharing the front row with Rico Abreu, Hirst slipped to the second spot on the start, as he chased after the early leader, though he had pressure early from Cory Elliason.

A series of stoppages slowed the early laps, but as the race took form, Hirst banged off the cushion, as he mixed it up with Andy Forsberg and Elliason, in a very entertaining battle.

Red with two-to-go put third running Hirst on the inside for a final restart, and with the drivers on the high-side getting a great jump, the Chico, CA resident slipped back to a fifth place finish.

“Double file restarts can help you or hurt you, and tonight they did both, but unfortunately, it hurt us at the wrong time,” he said. “I have to thank Troy Welty and the boys for giving me a good car, and Dennis and Teresa Roth for letting us continue to have some fun.”

Friday night at the heavy, hooked up, Silver Dollar Speedway, Hirst and his team were in action for the Bill Brownell Memorial.

Timing in 10th fastest, Hirst would win his heat, and line up in the fourth row for the feature event. In a race that didn’t see much passing, Hirst maintained his spot, as he scored an eighth place finish.

Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
