Ian Madsen Continues To Build Momentum
Author : Petersen Media

Continuing to mesh with new crew chief, Leonard Lee, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team put together two very strong nights of action as they competed in Jacksonville, IL and Burlington, IA over the weekend.

Friday night saw the Nehring Construction/Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply No. 18 roll through the pit gate in Jacksonville, IL and it was a draw show.

Drawing a very high pill, Madsen found his machine starting ninth in his heat race, and on the very small track, Madsen was able to carve his way forward to a ninth place finish.

Though it was a great run, it only put him 11th in points, thus putting him in the sixth row for the 25 lap feature event.

Continuing to show his ability to move forward, the St. Marys, NSW native navigated his machine with precision on the tight speedway, as the 25-lap feature zipped by, and he crossed the stripe in the fourth spot.

Moving to the 34 Raceway in Burlington, IA on Saturday night for a qualifying show, Madsen timed his Royal Flooring/Greenland Homes/QTC entry in sixth fastest putting him in the second row of his heat race.

Moving into the second spot when the race got underway, Madsen hounded early leader, Craig Dollansky, as he rode the cushion. With three laps to go, Madsen bounced over the cushion, and spun his machine to a stop, but was able to restart and finish in the fourth and final transfer spot.

Again, Madsen found himself in the 11th starting spot, and again, he showed patience as he worked his way forward through very thick traffic.

Dicing it up with some of the regions top racers, Madsen was able to cap off his weekend with a fifth place finish, giving him two Top-Five’s for the weekend.

“It was a really fun weekend all around,” Madsen said. “We are getting better heading into the Knoxville opener, and Leonard Lee and myself seem to be communicating better each time we hit the track.”
