A strong field of Sprintcars have nominated for this weekends two night show at the Perth Motorplex. Night one will be the Grand Final night of the MMS Civil 360 Sprintcar Power Series while the second night will be the Marty Chamberlain Tribute Race.
After eight rounds that have spanned the entire season and run at tracks from Kalgoorlie to Esperance and everywhere in between, the series has seen no less than forty one drivers compete. Of course, there can be only one winner and that driver will be determined this weekend.
Dean Terry has nominated for action and as the current series points leader will be looking to do enough to maintain his forty three point lead. Of course, he won't be looking to go out and just toddle around, he would love to finish the season on a high and claim a win.
Second place in the overall points is Chris Ackland who has also had a good season, including winning the WA StateTitle. He is a threat at any track he shows up to and is a huge chance of claiming a win this weekend.
Despite suffering a heavy crash at Kalgoorlie Speedway in the last round that destroyed his car, Owen Ahchee has nominated to race, but not in his regular #33 machine, rather in the Troy Anderson #52 car. Anderson, who is still recuperating after a crash at Bunbury (and actually sits fifth place in the points!) has offered Ahchee the ride and it will allow Owen to build on his current points position of fourth place.
Steven Ford will be looking to continue his good form after a solid showing at Kalgoorlie Speedway before the rain hit. He has recorded some solid finishes this season, seeing him sitting third in the Power Series and he will be looking to grab the grand final win this weekend.
Jason Pryde is one of four drivers doing double duty this weekend and goes in as the leader of the Perth Motorplex Track Championship by 117 points. Aldo De Paioli is sitting in second place in the Track Championship and also in this weekend’s field, looking to close the gap on Pryde.
Trent Pigdon has won multiple features this season and will be doing double duty this weekend while Jake Beard-miller is the third driver in that group. The final driver in this group is the surprise nomination of Dayne Kingshott who will be driving the Milwaukee Tools #7 in both divisions. All three will be racing hard to record some solid results.
Steve Adley has again thrown his hat into the ring after following the series around the state, while defending series champion Cory Gilpin, Sean Zemunik, Rod Snellin, Daniel Hawkins and Corey Hunter have also contested the bulk of the rounds, all of whom are also nominated for this weekend.
Add in drivers the likes of Kent Roberts, Terry Cutts, Trevor Jolly, Rob Willis, Ryan Schlam, Paul Peet and Michael Keen who have all competed in minimal rounds this season and we are set for a lung buster.
With all these drivers nominated, this weekend’s grand final will be huge! Make sure you are at the Perth Motorplex this Easter weekend, with the MMS Civil Power Series Grand Finale on Saturday night and the Marty Chamberlain Tribute race on the Sunday night!
