Spectacular Show Planned For Speedway Season Opener
Author : Archerfield Speedway

With Winter behind us and warm Spring days now the norm in Brisbane, the promotional team behind Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway are busy putting the final preparations in place to what promises to be a spectacular show to open the 2012/13 Speedway season next Saturday night September 29.

The bumper programme for the season opener, to be presented by Ausdeck Patios and Roofing, includes the always popular high-flying, car-crushing Monster Trucks, the amazing JET car, Round 1 of both the KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Championship and the Polar Ice Qld Midget Car Series plus ASCF Junior Sedans, Modlites and support Sedans all of which will be capped off by a Fireworks show as part of a total entertainment package for the whole family.

Speedway Promoter John Kelly is eagerly looking forward to the opening night of the new season.

"It's certainly a big show we're putting together for night one with the Monster Trucks, Fireworks and the opening Rounds of both the Sprintcar and Midget Track Championships all on the card. We've had a few practise nights here already this month for competitors but nothing matches the excitement that comes with heading out to the races for the first event of the season after a couple of months break for Winter" John stated.

"It's always interesting to see who has put the break to good use with new equipment and new paint jobs and of course living in the great State of Qld with our idyllic weather means we always get a few interstate drivers here looking to get an early start on their racing seasons as well."

The drivers John is referring to are two of the very best Sprintcar racers in the country in Robbie Farr and Garry Brazier who combined have won a total of seven Australian Championships and will make the trip to Brisbane from their respective Perth and Sydney bases. Joining them will be Garry's son Jordan, a fourth-generation racer who will make his Qld racing debut on the night, and also his Rocket Industries team mate Matt Young who has plenty of experience at the Archerfield raceway in both Sprintcar and Midget competition.

Fans heading to the Speedway next Saturday are in for a special night of racing with the inclusion of reigning World Series Sprintcars Champion James McFadden on the early nomination list which has so far reached thirty drivers with more expected in the coming days. McFadden, who also has an Australian Sprintcar Championship to his credit, recently returned from the United States where he took on the might of the World Of Outlaws tour regulars and impressed many seasoned campaigners from both sides of the Pacific with his speed and prowess behind the wheel of a 410ci Sprintcar.

General admission gates will be open from 4:00pm on the day with early racing from 4:45pm and the main programme scheduled to start at 6:00pm following the National Anthem.
