The Ross Wright 360 Sprintcar Memorial is poised to become the highest paying 360 Sprintcar event in the country thanks to Murray Machining & Sheds.

Murray Bridge Speedway promoter Tim McAvaney was excited about the new development.

“With the Australian 360 Sprintcar Championship now moving away from Murray Bridge, The ‘Ross Race’ which was the preliminary feature for the Australian Title in recent years, has mow been established as a stand alone event, scheduled for April 20 – the anniversary date of Ross’s passing. And thanks to Murray Machining & Sheds, the race first prize will double to $6,000!”

“Ross was a founding member of Murray Bridge, and he and his family have been huge supporters of the venue throughout its entire history. This extends even to today, with Murray Machining & Sheds being our major partner.”

“In fact Murray Machining & Sheds are also supporting a new 200 square metre, multi level viewing platform currently being erected along side the corporate room, which will add a new dimension to viewing racing and the pit activity at the venue this season.”

The best 360 Sprintcar Teams in the country are expected to be joined by some 410 Sprintcar regulars who have access to 360ci power plants for the Ross Race.

“Already some 410 drivers have hinted that they will be looking for drives, or hiring a 360 engine for this event, “ said McAvaney.

“The 360 events that we held earlier in the year were sensational, including the Allstars Grand Final and both nights of the Australian Title.”

“With the likes of Ryan Jones, Craig Van der Stelt, Mark Caruso, Tony Moule and Brendan Guerin being joined by guys like Matt Egel, it really does make for exciting multi-groove racing.”

“Hopefully we will attract other 410 stars too, perhaps guys like Steven Lines, Steven Bell and others might be able to schedule it into their own plans.”

The final will be run over 35 laps, with the total prizemoney totalling more than $13,000.

“That will ensure a quality field are in Murray Bridge next April,” said McAvaney.

“I can’t wait!”
