With the 2013 Australian 360 Sprintcar Championship set down for Bunbury Speedway in WA, the hype and talk is starting to circulate, at a rapid rate.

The promotions team will have their hands full, with an expected 50-60 competitors to contest the event on April 5th & 6th, 2013. With numbers swelling in the 360 sprintcar division in WA over the last two seasons thanks to the annual Power Series, there will also a large contingent from the east that will be travelling the width of the country to compete in the blue ribbon show down.

There will also be several open competitors contesting the event, purchasing 360 motors to race at the event. The Limited Sprintcar division will also see a host of drivers move up to the 360 class for the season due to the title being run in their back yard.
Bunbury Speedway Marketing/Promotions manager, Andrew Roberts, is looking forward to hosting the event and says it is set to create history at the track.

“The response we’ve had so far has been outstanding,” he said. “ A lot of eastern states drivers have registered their interest already and we have generated a heap of interest which is now starting to turn into momentum.”

The most competitors the track has hosted was the 1998 National Sprintcar Championship where 45 cars were in attendance. The annual Krikke Boys Shootout topped out at 43 cars back in 2009. Mr Roberts said that they would cater for all the competitors and make it a driver “friendly” event and one they would remember.

“We are really fired up about this title and we want to make sure the drivers remember Bunbury. A lot of energy will be put into this to make the 360 Sprintcar division a popular class for everyone to enjoy.”

It’s also attracting sponsors with GWN7 pulling out all stops to provide a full statewide TV advertising exposure campaign for the team as well as Heatleys Industrial & Safety donating big prizes for heat wins as well as tool kits for each interstate competitor who competes at the event.
