Dobson Hits the Mainland
Author : Redline Media
To say that the Apple Isle’s Shaun Dobson is looking forward to returning to the mainland this Saturday night after taking a break from the driver’s seat last season would be quite the understatement, with the Hobart-based racer commencing what will be an extended campaign of blue-ribbon events across no less than four states.
Having already gotten some laps under his belt within his home state, the pilot of the KRE 410ci powered VA # 21 WK Quantum Quartz / Albert Road Store supported Cool car will now cross the Bass Strait to participate in this Saturday night’s annual Max’s Race at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway; the first of a series of mainland race meetings.
Following this event, Dobson plans to travel to New South Wales to contest multiple Ultimate Sydney Speedweek rounds at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway, before making the trek north to Queensland for four nights of racing consisting of multiple World Series Sprintcar rounds and the two-night Australian Open.
Returning to Sydney for the Ultimate Speedway Nationals in mid-January, the 26-year-old driver will then travel to Victoria where a massive week of racing gets underway with the Presidents Cup, followed by the Kings Challenge and the coveted Grand Annual Classic, which will take place over three nights from January 24 to 26.
With this season’s Australian Championship taking place at Latrobe’s Gulf Western & Independent Oils Raceway in Tasmania, Dobson will be hoping to utilise his significant track knowledge to outperform his rivals and challenge for a front-running result.
“It’s going to be great to get back to the mainland after spending last season on the sidelines,” admitted Dobson, who will also be joined by knowledgeable crew chief Shane Finch during his campaign.
“We always thoroughly enjoy going up against the country’s most talented teams at what are definitely some of the biggest events on the Sprintcar calendar and this season is no different. With 15 nights of racing planned across four states, we’re certainly going to have our work cut out for us, but we’re more than ready for the challenge!”
