ROUND THREE SHAKES UP THE POINTS
James McFadden is the new World Series Sprintcars points leader after a number of plot twists during the third round at Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night.
Heading into the night V35 Jamie Veal (SWI Engineering Racing) had a slight overall buffer, and despite some qualifying struggles he made his way up from 13th to fifth in the A-Main, only to be disqualified for failing to attend the post-race weigh in. He now sits in third overall on 497 points.
Second heading into the round was W2 Brooke Tatnell (Krikke MotorSport), who looked set for a big points haul after qualifying on pole. He was sitting in a comfortable second as the race headed into its final third, only to be eliminated in a three-car accident that saw him collect 110 A Main points. With 518, he remains second overall.
The big beneficiary from Saturday night was W17 James McFadden from Monte Motorsport Sprintcar Team, who ran home second behind Luke Oldfield and collected 305 points for the round. He now leads the World Series Sprintcars standings with 648, a 130 point buffer over Tatnell.
W12 Daniel Harding had his best round of the series so far with a third placing in the A-Main and collecting 276 points to sit in fourth on 486, just 11 behind Veal. Mitchell Gee lies fifth, Jake Tranter six, Robbie Farr seventh, Luke Oldfield eighth, Andrew Wright ninth and Jason Pryde tenth.
