Dover Maintains Consistency In National Ascs Series
Author : TSR PR

This past weekend displayed the ups and downs of sprintcar racing. On Saturday night Jack Dover scored his third consecutive 2nd place in unusual circumstances at the latest round of the Lucas Oil National ASCS series at I-90 Raceway, Hartford, SD.

The feature race lasted 11 laps before mother natures’ fury caused the race to be declared due to horrendous storm activity arriving at the venue.

Jack drew a rear start for his heat race and as usual made haste of the field, moving from 10th up to a 3rd place finish. This would put Dover in the top 8 draw which saw him pull the number 3 starting spot for the A-main.

Eventual race winner Shane Stewart started directly behind Dover and after a couple of circulations under green, was able to slip passed Jack and pole sitter Austin Wheatley to take command of the race.

As the lead pack approached lap traffic Jack was able to considerably close the gap and was making his move on Stewart only for the caution lights to be switched on as the # 53 Shaver Eagle pulled along-side the Rockstar #57 of Stewart to line up the pass.

The field would take the green again with 7 laps in the books with Dover back in 3rd position. Stewart and Wheatley were attempting to run the high line whilst Dover was quick around the bottom. On lap 11, Stewart hit a rut entering turn 1 which saw Dover with the break to pass him down low. The pass would never eventuate as Austin Wheatley followed Stewart through the same hole and snap roll the #44 rookie.

The red lights would bring the race to a stop and with the wind and rain beginning to worsen, the officials had no choice but to abandon the race and send the cars back to the pits.

The race was paid out in full, despite it being 4 laps short of half distance which is the rule for declaring a race official. As the tour teams head west, rescheduling of the event was not possible so the promotion declared the race and drivers were awarded their finishing points.

Jacks third consecutive 2nd placing would see him sneak further up the ladder to sit 4th in national points.

“Not to speak about 'if only’s' but If we didn’t have the king pin eye break at the Eagle Nationals, sending me to hospital, We’d be sitting in 2nd in national points. I’m happy with my teams form and we hope to continue it as we head out west to Washington and Oregon over the next 2 weeks. This was my last race with Brodie turning the wrench’s and I hope to keep up the good work ethic and professionalism he brought to the team“, Dover said.
