Caruso Wins First Feature Of The Season
Author : Phil Michell

Current Speedway City Track Champion Mark Caruso broke through for his first feature race victory of the 2009/10 season with a devastating display in round 8 of the Speedway City 360ci Sprintcar Track Championship last Saturday night. After starting from position 3 in the final he avoided the early race accident involving Josh Ruhs and Jason McIver and from that point he was the class of the field as led convincingly up until the race was declared on lap 18.

“It was just really good to have a strong run at Speedway City. Finally we got a decent result at home in front of my Family and sponsors. That was my first show in Adelaide with the new car after I wrecked my other car at the Nationals so it was good to bounce back with a win” added Mark.

Unfortunately Mark is out of contention to defend his Speedway City Track Championship following his Nationals crash and an engine failure in round 2 but he is well and truly in the mix to capture the Victorian based All Stars Series, which continues this weekend at the Redline Speedway near Ballarat. “We have had a good run in the All Stars and we currently sit second in points without winning a round. We have had a second placing at Nyora and we led for about 10 laps at Mildura before a lapped car took us out, but the good thing is we have been fast. So we will be looking forward to another strong run on the weekend to keep us up towards to front in the points”.

Along with chasing the All Stars his next month will be extremely busy as he will return to Speedway City following the Ballarat meeting before contesting the Australian 360ci Title at Murray Bridge.

Mark Caruso would like to thank the following Corporate Partners for their involvement in the 2009/10 Sprintcar season:

• Profix Port Adelaide & Salisbury
