Danny Porter – Diving In The Deep End From The Top End!
Author : Paris Charles (SMA)

After a successful outright third placing in the 2004 Northern Territory Sprintcar Series driving for Russ Walker, Darwin ‘ace’ Danny Porter has packed his gear and headed back to the east coast to take on the ‘Parramatta Possie’ in what is described as Australia’s toughest domestic Sprintcar racing series.

Last season Danny’s best feature race finish was a very creditable third using his 372ci engine against the higher horse powered 410ci big bangers. Porter has recently stepped up to the plate and has purchased a 410 power plant from America to bolt between the rails of his Craft Differentials assisted Maxim chassis in an effort to mix it up with the big boys.

"Danny impressed me last summer when he raced at Parramatta, with some podium results against some tough competition and with reduced horespower to boot. Once Joey Saldana provided him with some setup advice, he really came on strong consistently. With Danny stepping up his engine programme this summer, the PCR locals better watch out...he is also one of the nice guys of the sport too!" voiced former PCR, now World Series Sprintcars PR Manager and commentator Dean Neal.

Despite having never raced a 410 engine and no seat time yet this season at PCR Danny is keen to get back into the weekly action at the Sydney venue. ‘I’m really looking forward to getting back on track and I can’t wait to see how this new engine is going to perform,’ said Danny from the workshop.

With the new 410 power plant ready for action, Danny’s 372ci - 650hp Chevrolet steel block engine is up for sale. ‘The engine has been well maintained and has lots of good gear which includes Edelebrock shaver heads -11, 2 3/16 Hilbourne injection, crane cam, KSE front cover, waterman fuel pump, Barnes dry sump oil pump, ext air cleaners included. Plus 2 set headers, 1 7/8 straight 1 ¾ to 1 7/8 stepped,’ for the mechanically minded the above equates to a very good engine. ‘I only want $15,000, which is a bargain,’ continued Porter. For further enquiries call Danny direct on: 0417 810 856.

Danny would like to thank the Walker Racing team and everyone that supported their 2004 NT Sprintcar Series campaign.
