Coyle Sets Sights On A Good Finish
posted by SpeedSport Media on Krikke Boys Race

With the Sprintcar season winding down the Trucks Plus team are looking to finish off strong with some good results in the last three shows to make up for Coyle’s past month of racing, The Krikke Boys Shootout wasn’t great and after the injury that Coyle suffered at the Perth Motorplex a fortnight ago that sent him down the AHG series points ladder several places.
“It hasn’t been the best month for us, the Krikke boys show was a roller coaster with a good time trial but a cut tyre basically wrecked the weekend. At the Motorplex I couldn’t get to the A main in the 410 as I was still in the medical centre getting treatment for a crash in the 360 State Title which was no fault on mine either so it has been tough” Said the young gun Coyle. ... read more

Wanless, Thorley For Q S S S 8 In Brisbane
posted by Jak on Todd Wanless

Nearly two months since they last raced together at the same event, ABC Auto Gear Racing team mates Todd Wanless and Pete Thorley will pack their helmet bags for the short trip to Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) and team up for an assault on Round 8 of the Qld Speedway Spares Series (QSSS) tomorrow night.

You have to go all the way back to January 23 to see the names Wanless and Thorley on the same programme, back to Round 6 of QSSS where they both finished in the top five of that night's thirty lap Feature event. Races in Sydney and Perth as well as business commitments have kept Todd away from BIS since, while Pete notched up a string of podium finishes in Toowoomba and Brisbane during February. Heavy rain falls that closed out the Brisbane Summer was the winner at the team's last scheduled event two weeks ago, meaning it's been a month since the team rolled through the pits gates and they're more than ready to get back into action this weekend. ... read more

Battle For Qld Speedway Spares Series Title Heats Up
posted by Jak on Brisbane Speedway

The battle for the Qld Speedway Spares Series resumes this Saturday night at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway and while the points chase at this stage shows a widening break at the top for three contenders for the Title, the return to Archerfield of a few high profile drivers signals the race for the crown is really only just heating up.

Two double point Rounds in succession has helped Pete Thorley regain the Series lead from Peter Lack and also moved Richard Morgan well into contention for a maiden Series Title, but it's the inclusion in this week's nominations of Todd Wanless, Andrew Scheuerle and Cameron Gessner this week that may ultimately decide the Series outcome. ... read more

Costly Night For Bricknell
posted by Daniel Powell on Tasmanian Speedway

A button happy race official at Latrobe’s Bendigo Bank Arena last Saturday night spoiled Jamie Bricknell’s hopes of another podium finish in the 09/10 season and it also narrowed his lead in the Farmers Union Series point standings.

The whole saga happened during the closing stages of the feature race when Bricknell was attempting to pass Marcus Alexander for second when he drifted high and grazed the wall. Jumping the gun, the race official in question put on the caution light although Bricknell had not stopped or even looked like stopping. Despite the mistake Bricknell was sent to the rear of the field even though he hadn’t stopped. ... read more

Another Victorian Title Podium Result For ‘the Gun’
posted by Redline Media on Sprintcar World

The Victorian Sprintcar Title is one of the events that Grant ‘The Gun’ Anderson dearly wants to win and last Saturday night at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway he fell narrowly short of this goal when he finished in second place on the podium.

With his dad, David, a former multiple winner of the Victorian Title, ‘The Gun’ last Saturday night qualified on pole position for the feature race and led the opening 10 laps before he lost command to Stephen Bell in lapped traffic. Despite a late fight back, ‘The Gun’ fell short of snatching back the lead and finished in second, which added to his third place podium finish back in 2007. ... read more

posted by Redline Media on Sprintcar World

Steering component failure resulted in James McFadden crashing heavily on the final corner of the final lap of the Victorian Sprintcar Title feature race last Saturday night at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway.

The crash caused substantial damage to the Scott Milling owned WA # 25 Totally Workwear supported Cool car and consequently robbed him of a Victorian Title podium result.

“I went into the final corner and then I just lost all steering and from there I was just a passenger as the car snapped hard right and then into the wall,” McFadden explained. “Anytime that you crash at Premier Speedway it’s going to be big and this one was certainly no different. The majority of the bolts on parts were destroyed but the chassis itself looks to be ok.” ... read more

Lines’ Late Night Victorian Title Charge
posted by Redline Media on Sprintcar World

Although the 2010 Victorian Sprintcar Title, that was held last Saturday night at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway, ended with a top five finish for Steve Lines and it was certainly a result that he had to well and truly earn.

After he failed to finish his opening heat race when he lost a fuel line, due to a rock from another competitor that he had come up to lap knocked it off, while comfortably leading on the final lap and then he was unable to start his second heat race due the problems caused from the loss of the fuel line; Lines was forced to qualify for the Victorian Title deciding feature race via the C-main. The team took their place in the C-main when they put in their spare Maxwill Racing Engines powerplant after they had originally contemplated sitting out the remainder of the night. In the C-main Lines scored a comfortable victory and also broke the 12-lap record in the process which was a testament to the sound work of Peter Morris and the team at Maxwill Racing Engines. He then continued his winning ways by taking out the B-main victory from position 13. ... read more

Dumesny Vs Perovich Showdown Tonight At Tpcr
posted by TPCR Media on Parramatta City Raceway

Tonight’s round of the Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway Sprintcar Track Championship is looming as one of the most exciting on record. Not in a long time have we seen the top two drivers chasing the Championship glory so close on points. Below is a closer look at the drivers who are going to battle it out to the end, Mitchell Dumesny and Marty Perovich.

Mitchell Dumesny:

Mitchell’s season has been very similar to last season, minus just one important ingredient – an A-Main win. Unlike last year when Mitchell greeted the chequered flag on three occasions, he is yet to stand on top of the presentation dais this season. However he does have more top three placings than last season. In the last two weeks though Mitchell has struggled. He has had to qualify through the B-Main which is something he has not had to do for over twelve months. At round fifteen on 20th February 2010, Dumesny failed to qualify for the A-Main after missing his heat earlier in the night. At the last meeting on 27th February 2010, he once again had to qualify through the B-Main but a great run in the A-Main from position 21 to finish in 9th place did help minimise the damage in the points chase. ... read more

AWSR president, Alan Woods, was particularly impressed by the co-operative efforts of Borderline Speedway staff, AWSR officials, Sprintcar Control Council (SCCA) Officials, race drivers and their crews. “We had one crew from Mackay in Central Queensland and two crews from Perth and that speaks volumes for the dedication of all those concerned,” said Woods. “The car count of just over sixty was comfortable to manage and the quality of the cars was great. This category looks set for a very solid future and the success of our major event will go a long way to contributing to that.” ... read more

Brains Vs Brawn At Tpcr This Saturday Night
posted by TPCR Media on Parramatta City Raceway

This Saturday night, 13th March 2010, starts the three race final stretch to crown the 2009/2010 Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway Sprintcar Track Champion. And with three consecutive weekends of Sprintcar racing left it looks like it might come down to a battle between defending champion Mitchell Dumesny and nearest rival Marty “Muscles” Perovich.

Mitchell Dumesny, who is studying Robotic & Mechatronic Engineering at UWS Penrith campus, is currently holding onto a twelve point lead over the fast finishing Perovich. Speaking to the young throttle stompers during the week they are both excited about the next three weeks at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway. “We have been very busy out here at Nelson on the family property changing things on this racecar to go back to back in the Sprintcar Track Championship” commented a focused Mitchell Dumesny. Whereas on the other hand a pumped up Perovich is ready to win his first championship saying, “Look, the one thing you know about me is every time I race, I race to win and that means I want to win this year’s Championship”. ... read more
